Grammar Expert Plus

Release Date: 17 August 1998

Wintertree Software is pleased to announce the release of Grammar Expert Plus, an application for Windows 98/98/NT that provides five writing tools in a single package:

Grammar Expert Plus is a stand-alone Windows application. It contains features that make it easy to check text copied to the Windows clipboard from other applications:

These features make Grammar Expert Plus ideal for checking text entered in applications that lack grammar and spelling checkers, including e-mail messages, Usenet news articles, text posted to Web forms, database field entries, drawings, etc.

The grammar checker in Grammar Expert Plus identifies thousands of common grammar and word-choice problems, including syntax errors, verb errors, pronoun errors, subject-verb agreement problems, number agreement problems, unbalanced punctuation, wordy and redundant phrases, and commonly confused words. Suggested replacements are offered for most reported problems, and detailed on-line help is available.

Grammar Expert Plus's built-in book-length grammar reference contains hundreds of examples showing the correct way to write, plus pitfalls to avoid. It includes chapters on sentence structure, parts of speech, mechanics of writing, punctuation, effective writing, plus a guide to frequently confused words explaining the meanings of over 160 words even professional writers have trouble keeping straight.

Grammar Expert Plus comes with a spelling checker including a 100,000-word American English dictionary. Users can add words to personal user dictionaries, and Grammar Expert Plus can read and update user dictionaries created by other applications such as Microsoft Word. The spelling checker can also auto-correct common misspellings -- for example, it can replace recieve with receive.

Grammar Expert Plus's thesaurus contains over 77,000 synonyms for over 35,000 key words. Word categories are divided into parts of speech (adjectives, adverbs, singular nouns, plural nouns, and verbs in first-person singular, third-person singular, past tense, and present-participle forms).

Grammar Expert Plus is available now from Wintertree Software [see catalog for pricing]. More information and a downloadable 30-day evaluation copy are available from http://www.wintertree-software.com/app/gramxp.
